Spa pool similar to bath
A spa pool is similar in some ways to the bath in your bathroom now. It remains a bath which can be filled and used as a bath, it can have a shower over it, and can be tiled or boxed in to suit your decor.
A bath becomes a spa by simply pressing a buttorn, or flicking a switch, allowing the pump to recirculate the water in the bath. A venturi system mixes air with water and increases the water pressure at the jets. The jets
turn the bath into a bubbling swirl of turbulent water for massage and relaxation. For most efficient use, a spa bath is tuned before arrival on your site, and the number and location of jets is pre-determined to suit the size and shape of the bath you have chosen. Too many jets will mean less pressure from each jet, or less room to lie comfortably in the bath.
Too much pressure can be dangerous to body tissues, and more care should be taken with spa baths as they contain less volume of water than spa pools.
A good spa bath pump properly located, with high flow-rate and a properly fitted venturi system
provides adequate pressure. Additional blowers should not be fitted until the volume of water exceeds 800 litres.
A proper spa bath pump has a high flow-rate to operate the jet at the best pressure, and an open impellor to minimise pump blocking caused by hair or soap. *-• . ?
The pump should be located at approxirhately the same level as the bath, as problems are' created with self-priming pumps when they are above the water level. Spa bath manufacturers . are now able to fit spa equipment which is self draining, avoiding any prob-’ lems which may be created by the retention 1 of a small amount of water in the pipes. ■’
