Man woken by assault
PA Wellington A man asleep in his bedroom in Lower Hutt on Sunday morning was awakened by four men who beat him up with an iron bar, a beer bottle and a length of wood. They seriously injured him before leaving, said Detective Sergeant Michael Small, of the Lower Hutt C. 1.8. The man was in a satisfactory condition in Hutt Hospital reported. The assault happened in Anderson Grove about 2.30 a.m. Detectives were still looking for the four attackers.
"It is believed they may be known to the victim,” Detective Sergeant Small said. They had gained entry to the man’s house through an insecure door. He would not name the victim.
