Tiles in Square

Sir,—Working in the centre of town, I walk through Cathedral Square at least twice a day. Making it across without a heel being caught in a crack between tiles is becoming increasingly difficult. The disrepair of the tiles will be costing Christchurch women a large amount to keep their shoes in good repair. I understand work is to be undertaken to roughen the surface of the tiles to stop them from being slippery when wet. Hopefully, the gaps between the tiles will be treated with the same amount of urgency.—Yours, etc., A. F. O’CONNELL. September 13, 1986.
