A sitting member of the board for three years and manager of Australian Airlines. Chairman of the Christ-church-Adelaide Sister City
Committee. Member of the South Island Promotion Association and other aviation and tourism organisation. Mr Rivers said he would pursue a decrease in ratepayers’ contributions and more equal funding from the Government through Urban Transport Council grants. He intends to increase charter and tourist work undertaken by the board. Michael Mora (Labour) A meat worker, married, has two children. Mr Mora is concerned about expenditure and the services the board offers. He wants to encourage good industrial relations and
introduce a logical route naming-and-numbering system in conjunction with a new bus route map. Circular and cross-town routes should be introduced and buses, should be promoted as an alternative to cars and motorways.
He would investigate the use of alternative fuels to reduce diesel pollution.
