Peraki back to work
The Lyttelton Harbour Board’s dredge Peraki will return to work this week after being laid up for three months. The board’s chief engineer, Mr John Bushell, said the dredge was laid up for long periods, depending on work requirements. In the last 15 years, the harbour channel had been dredged between 114 and 206 days a year, he said. This yielded between 700,000 and I, tonnes of silty clay material. The Peraki was laid up on May 31. The board’s other dredge Te Waka will remain laid up. ARRIVALS United Pioneer (6.30 a.m.), 11, Wellington (Seatrans).
