Canty men in N.Z. darts side
Canterbury provides the men and Taranaki the women in the New Zealand darts team to compete in the Pacific Cup tournament in Auckland later this year. The team comprises Gordon Allpress, Barry Whittaker, Colleen Spooner and Lottie Chalcraft.
Selection for Allpress was automatic in recognition of his victory in the New Zealand men’s singles championship at Lincoln College. Allpress also won the $4OOO first prize in the DB Open championship and shared the pairs title with Whittaker. The runner-up to Allpress in the singles, Whittaker, added to his national selections after a four-way play-off with Brent Bartholomew
(Canterbury), Murray Smith (Manawatu) and Alan Forster (Hutt Valley).
