Arts Centre supporters
A growth of activity at the Arts Centre has led to the formation of a new group, the Arts Centre Supporters. A sub-group of the Arts Centre Association, it comprises people who want to lend support to the life of the Arts Centre in both a financial and active way. The Arts Centre of Christchurch houses more than 150 groups and individuals ranging from craftspeople, artists, musi-
cians, dancers and actors to architects, lawyers, counsellors and doctors, as well as community and interest groups. In addition to co-ordinating and publicising the activities of its tenants through the new Information Centre, the Arts Centre organises its own recitals and events including the Arts, Crafts and Antiques Market and the annual Festival of Fringe Theatre. The purpose of the supporters group is to pro-
vide a pool of volunteers willing to man the Information Centre on Saturdays, help with Arts Centre recitals and promotions, and help in any area of interest to the members themselves. Already interest has been expressed in gardening and guided tours.
The nucleus of the group has been established. Each person need only be called upon once every 6 months, if numbers are large enough.
