Sir, — B. R. Walker’s remarks about the Lyttelton Harbour Board (August 29) hit the mark. It has been badly advised; hence the position in which it finds itself. The board is at least SI.SM in the red and cannot seem to

see that the terms of trade are unlikely to improve in the near future. It is a pity, that Mr Peter Skellerup has stood down at this time. I hope that by taking up the vacancy on the Citizens’ ticket I will be able to speak out clearly, and 5 if elected, persuade the new board to reconsider the direction it has been taking, — Yours, etc., KEITH DRAYTON.
