Mystery of unconscious man

Christchurch detectives are trying to establish how a man, aged 42, came to be lying unconscious on the side of Johns Road on Sunday evening.

The man later told the police that the last thing he could recall was going to help a group of motorists whose car had broken down. He was found about 10 p.m. by an off-duty police-

man, Constable Murray Smith. The man’s false teeth were lying broken beside him, . but apart from that he had no other apparent injury.' - The man was taken to Christchurch Hospital and, because of a heart condition, was later transferred to The Princess Margaret Hospital. He was reported in a fairly comfortable condition last evening.
