Search fails to find man

PA , Wellington A coastal search north of Wellington at the weekend failed to find any sign of a man who jumped from his runabout into choppy seas off Titahi Bay last Friday. Victor Patrick Downing, aged 37, also known as Lee You, of Porirua, is presumed to have drowned when he tried to swim ashore at Rocky Point when his 6m runabout broke down. He was last seen floating towards Plimmerton. A police spokesman said Mr Downing was unlikely to be found during the next few days. Another search would probably be made at the end of the week.
