Jamie Higgins returns to winner’s list
Jamie Higgins, away from the winning list since October, 1982, led throughout the Chateau Regency Handicap and lasted to . beat the hot favourite, Wedgewood, by a head, with a neck back to Simon Katz which finished solidly. Game Traveller handy all the way, was two lengths back in fourth place just ahead of Ranger Gobe and Inflamer.
Wedgewood tracked the
winner all the way and challenged through a narrow gap along the rails, just failing to get up.
The fourth favourite, Borrowed Time, broke badly at the start and was pulled up. Keystone Surprise, Floyd and Lordic gained impressive wins in supporting events and along with Nugent Du Jour and Kerry Counsel, they look to be in for a profitable innings at early spring meetings.
