Board manager retires
The retirement of the Meat Producers Board’s chief executive, Mr Jim Bremner, has been announced by board chairman, Mr Adam Begg.
Mr Bremner contributed significantly to the evolution of the board, Mr Begg said. “Mr Bremner spearheaded the board’s operations through a momentous period in the development of the meat industry,” he said.
The decision to retire coincides with the follow-through and finalisation of the board’s marketing operation, Mr Begg said. Mr Bremner joined the board from the Apple and Pear Marketing Board in 1983. • Soon afterwards the Meat board took control of meat stocks which were fetching low prices. Last year control of meat marketing was handed back to private companies.
