PA Wellington The prices of milk products such as cheese, butter and yoghurt should not be affected by the milk price Increase, according to the Milk Board’s general manager, Mr Hamish Turnbull. He said those products were costed by industries separate from the Milk Board, which recommended an increase in the price of milk two months ago. The Acting Minister of Agriculture, Mr Colman, announced on Monday that the price of a bottle of milk would rise 5c on October 1. The cost of a bottle of cream will increase Bc. Mr Turnbull said 4.1 c of the increase in the price of milk covered GST, the remaining, 0.9 c accounting for industry costs.
