Ashburton downs Christ’s in chess

Ashburton has collected a 4-2 win over Christ’s College in the A grade round-robin play-offs of “The Press” schools chess competition. The results of the other A grade match between. Shirley Boys’ High School and Christchurch Boys’ High School will be published late, as five of the six matches went to adjudication. The B grade finalists will be Aranui, which was runnerup in the 1984 final, and Cashmere, a finalist in the grade for the first time.
