Floods wash away bridge
Geraldine correspondent A temporary footbridge across the Waihi River at Wilson Street, Geraldine, has again been washed out by floods. The bridge was provided after the floods last March when a permanent bridge was demolished. A number of bridge approaches in the Geraldine area, of the Strathallan County Council have also
been washed out or damaged, and repairs began yesterday. The highway between Geraldine and Fairlie was closed to all traffic last evening. The chairman of the Aorangi United Council, Mr A. C. Houston, declared a limited civil emergency in the Milford area of the Strathallan County Council and Temuka Borough yesterday afternoon.
