Mr Laurie Elder has been appointed the Civil Defence Officer for the Christchurch Combined District and Regional Civil Defence Officer for Canterbury.
Mr Elder is the Deputy Civil Defence Officer in Wellington. He will take up his Christchurch duties next month.
