New airline leases counter at Wellington

PA Wellington The Newmans-Ansett-Brierley airline has leased counter space at Wellington Airport formerly used by the now defunct airline Air'Albatross.

The counter and its gate is in a dark corner of what used to be the international terminal and is snuggled among ■ two counters serving commuter third-level airlines. The airport manager, Mr Bob Goldingay, confirmed the lease had been

signed but said there were other issues still to be resolved.

These would include gate space and cargo handling facilities.

The Air Albatross counter was previously used for aircraft carrying up to 19 passengers — now the same area would hatfeato serve Newmans’Boeing 737 aircraft carrying 120.

“You won’t get many people through those facilities in a hurry,” Mr Goldingay said.
