Newsprint assurance
PA Wellington The Tasman Pulp and Paper Company is optimistic that newsprint supplies — disrupted by the Kawerau dispute — will last until a shipment on order arrives in October.
A Newspaper Publishers' Association spokesman expressed concern on Friday about the prospect of a newsprint shortage because of the open-ended nature of the dispute, now in its twentysixth day. The company’s general manager, Mr Dick Parrott, said from Auckland that Tasman officials had consulted the association, its biggest customer, and expected newspapers would survive until newsprint imports arrived.
