Western Knight retired

Special correspondent Auckland The good mare Western Knight ran her last race when she finished fourth in the Auckland Rugby Union Handicap at Alexandra Park on July 19. A pregnancy test has shown she is, in foal to the American-bred stallion Soky’s Atom (by Albatross). Western Knight was served in March to northern hemisphere time. Owned by Roosevelt Breeding, Ltd, she was trained by Peter Davis at Pukekohe.

By Timely Knight from Scottish Trail, she won eight races and ran second seven times, and third four times, for $36,475 in stakemoney. The Roosevelt Company is one of the special partnerships formed by the National Bloodstock Corporation, which is the major shareholder. Tact Boyden. Foaled in 1978, Tact Boyden was one of the best three-year-old fillies of her year, when among her contemporaries were Hilarious Guest and Rain Girl.

One of Tact Boyden’s best performances in the 1981-82 season was in the DB Flying Fillies Final when she finished third. She had seven wins before being sent to the United States. From 23 starts in North America, she had eight wins and increased her earnings to $lOB,OOO. Her best mile time was Imin 56.85.

Tact Boyden will be brought back to New Zealand in a -few months time. She is in foal to Rashad (1:52.6), which will be on the same flight. By Boyden Hanover from Tacten, by Hundred Proof, Tact Boyden is a half-sister of Tact Del, Tact Knight and Tact Over.

Purchased by National Bloodstock, Rashad, which is by Meadow Skipper, will stand at Peter Andrew’s Pemberton Lodge at West Melton.
