In the rugby match between Sydenham and Marist at Lancaster Park South, the Marist fullback, Richard Connell, had bis leg broken in a tackle. The tackle was late, patently so. The referee, Mr Anderson, who exercised a Norling type control over the game, decided to ignore the late tackle and awarded a line-out where Connell.
had kicked the ball out, well down the field.
