Ombudsmen’s removal sought

PA Wellington A petition to seek the removal from office of the Ombudsmen for alleged misconduct has been presented in Parliament The petition of Noel John Reeves, of Auckland, rtjade the allegation against the Ombudsman,

Mr John Robertson, and the Chief Ombudsman, Mr Lester Castle. According to papers presented to the House, the allegation relates to the way the Ombudsmen handled complaints made by Mr Reeves. Mr Reeves’ complaints were about employment

and other issues including the national health computer, and the way the Housing Corporation handled the rent freeze. The petition, brought to the House by Mr Richard Northey (Lab., Eden), was referred to the Government Administration Select Committee for consideration.
