Startled leaders leave

PA Wellington The Prime Minister, Mr Lange, and the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Bolger, both incurred the wrath of the Speaker, Dr Wall, yesterday, and were ordered from the debating chamber. Both men had continued interjecting across the chamber when Dr Wall called for order. He then ordered them both to leave.

Mr Lange and Mr Bolger looked startled at first, but grinned broadly and rose to leave.

As Mr Lange gathered his papers and moved towards the back of the chamber he offered his arm to his National Party opponent. Mr Bolger declined, choosing to leave by another exit.
