$5.5M meat works plan
PA Wellington Challenge Meats, Ltd, said it would is to spend $5.5 million on the new technology needed for the added value processing of meat at its Dunedin-based single chain factory. The Fletcher Challenge subsidiary said the expansion of the pilot plant
coincided with the full integration of DMBA (Dunedin Master Butchers Association) into Challenge Meats. Mr Lamb said the new products could be worth $l6 million a year to New Zealand, which compared with $5 million if the meat went abroad in carcase form.
