Second-biggest Japanese car-maker

Established in 1933, Japan’s Nissan Motor Company is that country’s second-biggest car-maker. In the year ended March 31, 1985, it produced 1,834,042 cars, as well as 639,149 commercial vehicles. Additionally, it produced 216,069 completely-knocked-down kits, some of which were exported to New Zealand where Nissan New Zealand, Ltd, the Auckland-based company in which the Japanese parent has a majority shareholding, assembled them in its own Wiri sgsembly plant

As well as manufacturing cars and commercial vehicles, the Nissan Motor Company manufactures industrial vehicles, such as forklift trucks, watercraft and marine engines, rockets and other aerospace items, textiles and textile machinery iron, steel and cast iron for use in automobile manufacturing and is also involved in the acquisition, management and administration of facilities for sports, tourism and other recreational activities. Last year, the company employed 58,925 people in Japan. !
