Policemen killed
Three Northern Irish poiicemen of the Royal Ulster Constabulary were killed by gunmen as they sat in their patrol car in Newry. It brought the death toll of R.U.C. officers in the Britishruled province to nine this year. They were seated in the parked car in the town centre when gunmen approached the car and opened fire. — Belfast
