Teletext gets results first
Viewers of Teletext sets in New Zealand will be among the first people in the world to get results from the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. This has been made possible by a special arrangement which Television New Zealand has made with the 8.8. C. Teletext will receive in-
formation directly from the main results computer at the Games so that information will be printed out in the Christ- . church control room at the same time as it is available to commentators and spectators at the various venues in Edinburgh. The Teletext manager, Paul Chaplin, says that as
well as being able to call up results when they choose, Teletext owners will have immediate access to results of events not broadcast live. “The Commonwealth Games is the ideal event for us to show our ability to quickly deliver a wide range of information. We know that most main
events will be broadcast live, but radio and TV cannot be everywhere at once so even the most ardent listeners and viewers are bound to miss some results, which Teletext can present immediately and have them available to be called up at any time , that’s convenient for the user.”
