Medal totals
at past
Games
The greatest haul of medals by a New Zealand Commonwealth Games team was in 1950 when the Games were held in Auckland. New Zealanders won 10 gold, 21 silver and 20 bronze that year — a total of 51 medals. The 10 gold has only been equalled once since
— at the Perth Games in 1962. At Christchurch in 1974 New Zealanders won nine gold medals. Edinburgh was not a happy hunting ground for New Zealand competitors in 1970, but 1986 should be more fruitful. Medal totals at the past 12 Games are:
Gold Silver Bronze 1930 Ontario 3 4 0 1934 London 1 0 2 1938 Sydney 5 7 12 1950 Auckland 10 21 20 1954 Vancouver 7 7 5 1958 Cardiff 4 6 9 1962 Perth 10 12 10 1966 Kingston 8 5 13 1970 Edinburgh 2 6 6 1974 Christchurch 9 8 18 1978 Edmonton 5 6 9 1982 Brisbane 5 8 13
