First ram lambs loaded
Timaru reporter The first of more than 70,000 long-tailed ram lambs were being loaded into the livestock carrier Uniceb at the Port of Timaru yesterday. The sheep are the last consignment in a contract between New Zealand Agricultural Exports, Ltd, and Saudi Livestock to supply 250,000 head for the Haj religious festival. The sheep carrier Mawashi Tabuk sailed from Timaru on July 3 with 84,000 lambs and it is expected to reach Saudi Arabia in about four days. The Uniceb is likely to leave Timaru tomorrow.
