Applicants for the position of clinical psychologist must hold the diploma of clinical psychology and be registered under the psychologists Act 1981 and applicants for the position of assistant clinical psychologist must hold a masters degree in psychology issud by a New Zealand University (or an equivalent degree Issued by a recognised overseas university) and have made satisfactory progress in the second year of the course for the diploma in clinical psychology. The position entails psychiatric hospital referrals in acute and long stay areas, psychiatric outpatient care and some general hospital work depending on the appointees interest.
