Roll down but few students drop out

Lincoln College’s roll is down slightly on last year, but fewer students have dropped out. At July 1, the roll stood at 1724, compared with 1778 for the corresponding time last year. However, this year there was a net loss of only six students since the beginning of the year, compared with a loss of 80 students in the corresponding period last year. The college’s principal, Professor Bruce Ross, said at the College Council

meeting yesterday this showed that because of the economic situation people who had decided to study at the college were committed. The biggest drop in student numbers was in those enrolled for the dioloma in agriculture, which this year was 135, compared with 178 last year. The biggest increase in student numbers was in the diploma of parks and recreation management which, at 226, was an increase of 30 over last year.
