NZPA-Reuter Peking China has marked another milestone on the road of reform, by. opening its first public', relations company —a ; business unknown in China six years ago. spokeman .for the China Global' Public Relations Company told NZPAReuter that public relations in China was begin- . ning to get the recognition accorded over the,, last few years to advertising, which had become Widely accepted. ; ? - “Public relations was unknown in China before 1980,” he said. “Now foreign-managed hotels have P.R. departments and even a large State-owned hotel opening later this year in Peking will have one.” The new firm, was a staff of 40, is a subsidiary of the official New China News Agency, and will do market surveys and sales promotion and arrange conferences and seminars
