Railways speedster arrives

PA Auckland The Railways Corporation’s new speedster, a 108-tonne electric locomotive that has the power to clip three hours off the Auckland-Wellington trip, was unloaded at Fergusson Wharf, Auckland, yesterday. The Minister of Railways, Mr Prebble, said the English-made locomotive could keep up with the fastest truck.
