Health Department cuts forecast
PA Wellington Health Department spending on administration will be trimmed and the department’s surplus assets may be sold, to help fund the Budget deficit, said a spokesman for the Minister of Finance, Mr Douglas, yesterday. The v cuts would account for only a “very small percentage” of the health
vote. Rumours of a 10 per cent cut were “hopelessly incorrect,” he said. The only other cut to health spending was the reduction in the general practitioners’ practice nurse subsidy. Full details of the cuts would be released in the Budget on July 31, the spokesman said.
