Those going, staying home

Fifty-eight territories are eligible to join the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh next week, but so far 26 have announced they are staying away.
The boycott movement began as a protest at Britain’s opposition to economic sanctions on South Africa. The Commonwealth comprises 49 nations, linking Britain and its former colonies, but the Games are also open to other associated places like regions of the United Kingdom and dependent territories such as the Falkland Islands and Hong Kong.
Known withdrawals: Antigua, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Cyprus, Dominica, Gambia, Ghana, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Malaysia, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, St Kitts, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Others scheduled to take part: Australia, Bermuda, Botswana, Brunei, Canada, Cayman Islands, Cook Islands, England, Falkland Islands, Fiji, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Isle of Man, Jersey, Malawi, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Montserrat, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Vanuatu, Virgin Islands, Wales, and Western Samoa.
