Spades scores brilliant win

PA Wellington The Tokoroa owned and trained greyhound Spades yesterday confirmed her liking .for the Hutt Park track with a brillant win in the Wellington Greyhound Racing Club’s Invitation Stakes. One of the best to begin, she trailed in third place until approaching the home turn when she put In a powerful run to race clear of the field for an impressive three lengths win. Second was one of the race outsiders, Olympic Bliss, which ran a good race after being slow away. Spades, which also won the 1986 Wellington Cup on the track, is owned and trained by Mr and Mrs Mick Martin. The race favourite, Weeny Wadderin, showed up briefly in the middle stages, but never looked a winner after that and finished last.
