Having Andy to stay
It was in the school holidays and my cousin. Andy was coming to stay. “Come on, Irene,” said Mum. “We are going to the airport to pick up Andy.”
"Hurry up,” said Dad “we will be late.” I hurried out to the car after I locked the door and gave the house-key to Dad. We drove off.
At the airport Andy got out of the plane. “Hello, Andy,” I said.
“Hello, Irene,” she replied.
“When we get back do you want to see my two new .horses, Toffee and Carrot."
“Okay,” said Andy. . Dad put her bags in the boot of the car and Andy and I hopped into the back seat. Then . Dad hopped in and we drove ■> home. ,■
On the way Andy said,
“I can’t wait to see your two new horses, Toffee and Carrot.” “Carrot is ginger and Toffee is yellow,” I said. We drove up the driveway and Andy and I went over to Toffee and Carrot. We saddled them up and went for a ride. When we got to the gate Andy said, “Can we gallop to the airport gates and back?”
“Okay,” I said, “Do you want to ride Toffee or Carrot?”
“I will ride Carrot because Toffee is too slow.” “No, she isn’t.” "Well I think she is.” “Okay; you can ride Carott.”
- “Oh, goody,” she said. . I hopped on Toffee and Andy hopped, on parrot. “I will meet you at the -airport gate.” I galloped ofi> heading for the airport./ Andy walked. , I looked around and Carrot saw that Toffee was gal-
loping so he galloped, too. Andy screamed and shouted, “Stop, stop, stop!” I turned back too slow Toffee down but it was too late. Andy was on the ground. I stopped and hopped off and rah to her. She was screaming. I got her to stop, and get back on to her horse. We walked home. When we got there my Mum asked, "What .happened?” “She fell off Carrot,” “Oh dear. I will call the doctor. Tell Andy to lie down on her bed.” “Okay, Mum,” I said. The doctor came in 10 minutes and looked at her and said she would be all right. ’
“Make sure she stays in bed tomorrow,” he said and he went home. Andy changed after that .Was it because she fell off Carrot or was it the injection the doctor gave .her?.- . ; We don’t know.
