Emerging players beaten
Dunedin

The best try of the game came midway through the first spell when the Otago full-back, David Hamilton, burst through after entering the line.
Turner, on the wing, carried it on before Rhys Ellison ranged outside him to score a splendid try.
The conversion by Turner put Otago ahead, 12-0, at half-time. aa dropped goal by Lindsay Smith after 10 minutes in the second half stretched Otago’s lead to 15-0.
In the last half hour of the game the Emerging Players fought back with Brent McKenzie finally landing two penalties and the replacement wing,
John Hainsworth, scoring a fine try which McKenzie converted.
Players to stand out for the Emerging Players were Hainsworth, who showed dash and determination on the wing, and the captain, Dean Kenny, who played solidly in the second half at half-back.
Scorers — Otago 15: R. Ellison a try, P. Turner two penalties and a conversion, L. Smith a dropped goal. Emerging Players 12: J. Hainsworth a try, B. McKenzie two penalties and a conversion.
