New Zealand coach not unhappy

From

John Coffey

The outcome was similar to the first test at Auckland, but the Kiwis did not receive a verbal roasting from their coach, Graham Lowe, after the second rugby league international at Sydney on Saturday. “You could not compare the two,” said Mr Lowe after. “They did not perform the first time. Today they performed and lost, that is all. “Small mistakes were terribly costly. While I want error-free football, I will not do anything to take away their flair. But there were just too many errors,” he said. Indicating the dressing room door behind him, Mr Lowe said, “All I told them in there was I was proud that they had contributed towards a great test match.”

New Zealand’s biggest handicap was a lack of match practice as a team, Mr Lowe said. The ( pucleus of the Australian

side had .been together since the start of the State of Origin series. “There were a lot of errors in the first State of Origin match, too, but by this time the Australians have corrected most of them. This was our

second game, Australia’s fifth. Asked if changes would occur for the third test, and World Cup qualifying match, in Brisbane on July 29, Mr Lowe replied, “We’re going to win it”
