Israeli jets strike
NZPA-AP Beirut Waves of Israeli jets attacked Palestinian guerrilla targets in the Druseheld hills east of Beirut yesterday. The sound of exploding rockets and bombs could be heard at the Beirut airport. The police said there was no immediate report on casualties or the damage caused by the attack. Jets bombed and rock-
eted guerrilla bases around the Druse towns of Aitat, Bayssour, Shlmlan and Ainab in four runs, setting off fires in the target areas, the police said. Syrian-backed guerrilla groups opposed to the Palestine Liberation Organisation chairman, Yasser Arafat, maintain bases in the stricken areas, about 20km southeast of Beirut.
