Market not reflected, says Institute

High numbers of mortgagee sales advertised in newspapers recently do not reflect the market, according to Mr Kent Prier, the president of the Canterbury - Westland branch of the Real Estate Institute. Thiry-two properties • owned by a Christchurch property speculator were advertised as mortgagee sales in “The Press” on

Saturday. Three property speculators so far this year have faced mortgagee sales. If these properties were not included in a count of mortgagee sales, the numbers are no higher than in previous years, said Mr Prier. “If you take the speculators out, then there are not many others."
