Snow blocks passes
Snow caused the closing of State highway 73 at Porters Pass and Arthur’s Pass at dusk last evening, according to the Ministry of Transport Other roads were re-
ported to be open, although chains were recommended on the Lewis Pass. The Automobile Association (Canterbury) said flooding could cause problems on State highway 1.
