NZPA-Reuter Moscow Leonid Taranenko, of the Soviet Union, set a world weightlifting record of 467.5 kg in the snatch-and-jerk super-heavyweight division. Taranenko, who was competing at the Soviet national championships in Lipetsk, south of Moscow, was 2.5 kg over the previous record of 465 kg jointly held by the Soviet Union’s Alexander Gunyashev and Anatoly Pisarenko.
