Obituary Mrs Evelyn Warren

Mrs Evelyn Warren, president-elect of ’ the International Women’s Bowling Board, died suddenly in Christchurch on Monday. She was 68. Mrs Warren was a vicepresident of the international board and was due to take up the presidency in 1988 for four years. Her term as president would have coincided with the next world championships in Auckland in 1988. An extremely popular personality, Mrs Warren was rewarded for her services to bowls when she was awarded the 0.8. E. in the Queen's Birthday Honours three weeks ago. Mrs Warren had been a New Zealand delegate to the international board since 1977, and in 1981 was made a life member of the Christchurch

Women’s Bowling Centre. The same year she, manageress of the New Zealand team to the women’s world championships in Canada. She had a long association with the Barrington club and had been its delegate to the Christchurch centre since 1961. She was a past president of both the centre and the New Zealand association. Her efficiency as an administrator was matched by her skill on the green, and in 1971 ' and 1973 she skipped v Barrington fours to win centre titles. She won ' numerous Barrington club titles. In earlier years Mrs Warren represented Otago at tennis, and also won an Otago table tennis championship.
