War epic relived on tape
TOBRUK CIC Taft Video 105 min. PG Rock Hudson, George Peppard, Guy Stockwell and Nigel Green line up
in this exciting war epic, based on the attack on Tobruk during World War 11. The movie starts as a group of Jewish-German commandos attacks a ship
and frees a major from the long range desert group. The major is taken back to the desert to lead an assault on Rommel’s supply base at Tobruk.
The assault team consists of a company of Jewish-Germans and a company of British long range desert rats, who are to be taken to Tobruk as “prisoners of war” by the Jews, who are wearing German uniforms. Backup will come from the air force , and troops from ships.
The group gets through to Tobruk, only to find Rommel has half of his forces stationed there. They cannot call off the raid because their radio has been destroyed by a British Spitfire thinking they were Germans. During the pounding by the air force they signal by lamp to the fleet, and the assault craft are turned back, leaving the raiders to face the might of Rommel’s troops and tanks on their own ...
The picture and audio quality are very good.
COMMANDO CBS Fox Video. R.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, the muscle-bound hero, is on the rampage again in this action-packed adventure.
He is attacked at his home, minutes after his old commander warns him someone is wiping out his old platoon. He leaves two of his best men to guard Schwarzenegger and his daughter. But the guards are killed and his daughter is kidnapped. He has 10 hours to find where she is being kept and he sets out with the help of a girl whose car he commandeers.
They track the gang to a deserted island, and Schwarzenegger goes into action against a whole army, which he singlehandedly disposes of.
This movie is actionpacked, in a light-hearted vein, and well worth watching. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dan Hedaya. The picture and audio quality are excellent.
