Cash mix in $7000 robbery
More than $7OOO worth of cash in seven different currencies was stolen from a firm in central Christchurch recently. The cash was taken from a safe, which the police say the thief opened with a key. Detective Senior-Ser-geant Michael Muddiman said that the police believed a ‘“stair dancer,” or opportunist thief, was responsible. The firm, which the police have declined to name, is in Lichfield Street. The theft happened in the last week and was discovered yesterday. More than $l2OO worth of Dutch guilders, United States dollars, French francs, German deutschemarks, Hong Kong dollars, Japanese yen, and Thai baht was taken.
