Detective cleared
A .Christchurch detective who was discharged in the District Court yesterday on a theft charge faces an uncertain future. William Schwass, aged 31, has been suspended from the police without pay since last September. He could not be reached for comment last evening.
The Christchurch police chief, Deputy Assistant Commissioner John Jamieson, said yesterday that he would make no comment on the case. It is believed that Mr Schwass is now entitled to full pay for the period of suspension. Court report, page 4
