Music pupils win contest
The Singerstrasse Quartet, from the Christchurch School of Instrumental Music, won the small group, instrumental section of the Westpac School Music Contest for the Christchurch district, held during the week-end.
The members of the quartet are Justine Cormack, Nicola Mantan, Deborah Woodley and James Bush.
The large group, instrumental section was won by the Christchurch Girls’ High and Boys’ High String Orchestra, and the choral section was won by the Burnside High School Chorale. After the 12 district contests have been held, the judges will decide which entrants will go forward to the national contest in Wellington on Augi© 16.
