Small boy was lookout

PA Hastings A Hastings woman watched a seven-year-old boy act as lookout while his two companions, aged nine and 10, returned to burgle a toy store for the second time within six hours on Sunday, the police said. The boy on "sentry duty” scarpered when the police, who were called by the resident, nabbed his three mates on the

job, Senior-Sergeant Ben White said. They were caught as they climbed into the store through windows they had broken six hours earlier. Mr White said it was "shocking that children so young should have been on the street at 4.30 a.m. when the first burglary occurred. “Their parents should be shot,” he said. During the break-in, the

boys stole toys, some of which they hid some under bushes nearby. They took others home to their family, before returning with bags for a second helping, Mr White said. \, An alert neighbour spotted the boys behaving suspiciously outside a car dealer’s yard oppcjsite the shop and kept theih under scrutiny until the\ police arrived. r
