Good and bad news

PA Levin For people used to the glow of carbonettes, the bad news is that there will be none this winter. The good news is that a new product will be available next winter. For about 60 years carbonettes were made by Waikato Carbonisation, Ltd, at Rotowaro. Last year there was a big breakdown with old machinery and it was de-

cided this year that production should stop. However, a firm that has packaged carbonettes for some years, Roose Packaging, Ltd, has started building a new factory at Mercer to produce a similar product. A company spokesman, Mr H. Russell, described this as smokeless and clean burning with a lot of heat. It will be distributed nationally.
