Non-sexist teaching week
Trainees at Christchurch Teachers’ College are learning how this week to be non-sexist teachers. The trainees’ association is running a “nonsexist teaching week” with the co-operation of the college authorities.
Trainees will have workshops on non-sexist teaching, and will listen to speakers talking on issues such as incest and sexual abuse, and eating disorders.
One of the organising committee, Ms Rose Graham, said a similar week had been held last year.
“The main message we are trying to get across is that it is our professional duty to be non-sexist teachers in the classroom,” Ms Graham said.
